WEG, a global motor, drives and gearbox manufacturer, has announced the expansion of its Nordic footprint with the opening of a new office in Pietarsaari, Finland. As part of the existing WEG Scandinavia branch, the new office reinforces WEG’s commitment to the region, while supporting Finland’s ambition to accelerate industrial innovation and decarbonisation.

With the new sales office located in Pietarsaari, WEG will provide comprehensive customer support and tailored industrial motors, drives, variable frequency inverters (VFDs) and battery energy storage systems (BESS) to customers across Finland, strengthening its presence in an advanced industrial market.

Finland’s industrial sector is undergoing significant transformation, with major investments across energy, manufacturing and automation. The country is recognised as a leader in renewable energy adoption and electrification, creating growing demand for high-efficiency motors, drives and energy storage solutions.

“Finland is an exciting market where industrial growth and sustainability progress together,” said Johan Enlund, business development manager at WEG Scandinavia, who will lead operations at the new office and brings over 15 years of industry experience. “There are major developments in manufacturing and clean energy, and being present locally allows us to support customers more effectively as they modernise and decarbonise their operations.”

From motors and gear units to variable speed drives and automation technologies, WEG supplies solutions designed to improve energy efficiency, reduce maintenance requirements and support industrial resilience. The new Finnish office will also provide expertise in WEG’s BESS solutions for industrial applications, helping companies stabilise power supply and manage peak loads as electrical demand and renewable generation grow.

“Finland’s strong push towards renewable energy means that storage, motor efficiency and grid stability will become even more critical,” explained Anders Näzell, managing director at WEG Scandinavia. “Our BESS systems complement our portfolio of motors and drives, allowing customers to optimise energy usage and maintain operational continuity. These technologies will play a vital role in supporting the country’s long-term competitiveness.”

Situated in the same building as the Jakobstad Chamber of Commerce — an organisation that promotes regional business development and supports local industry — the new location will support closer collaboration with Finnish companies and industry networks. As the market continues to grow, WEG plans to further strengthen its presence, including future recruitment in technical sales and customer support roles.

The new office marks another milestone in WEG’s ongoing Nordic expansion. In 2024, the company opened a dedicated office in Bergen, Norway to establish a greater presence in the region and support its long-term vision for growth and development in Scandinavia.
