WEG, a leading motor, drives and gearbox manufacturer, will demonstrate to SPS Italia visitors how integrated motion packages can empower companies on their path toward industry 5.0, taking sustainability and resilience to the next level. The company will showcase how its latest additions to the WEGmotion Drives package can help optimise efficiency, reliability, and performance across strategic industries, including food, recycling, metal and water treatment applications. WEG’s experts will be available at stand G051 in Pavilion three from May 28 to 30, 2024.
“Industry 5.0: sustainable, human centric and resilient production” will be one of the overarching themes at SPS Italia. With new Industry 5.0 legislation due to be passed by the Italian parliament the coming weeks, helping companies embark on their transition to a more sustainable and resilient production model has never been so important. Motor-driven systems are the backbone of every industrial process and must be at the forefront of this transition. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), these systems account for 53 percent of global electricity consumption, but new technologies can help reduce their energy demand by up to 30 percent.
WEG will demonstrate how strategic industries at the heart of the 5.0 transition can maximise efficiency and reliability. Dedicated “islands” will showcase WEG’s motion solutions in specific applications, including paper manufacturing, food and beverage conveyors, recycling crushers and extruders, metal processing and water treatment facilities.
“Electric motors, gearboxes and drives are the beating heart of most organisations embarking on the 5.0 transition,” explained Ilaria Mandelli,communication specialist and technical writer at WEG Automation Europe. “Our integrated approach to motion, bringing together motor, gearbox, drive, and automation solutions in a single package, enables customers across multiple applications to streamline installation, minimise maintenance requirements, optimise reliability and enhance operational and energy efficiency, boosting sustainability and resilience throughout the production line.”
As part of its latest integrated solutions, WEG will showcase its new TPD500 AC/DC converter that brings enhanced efficiency, safety and adaptability for industrial applications. While maintaining full backward compatibility with its predecessor, the TPD500 delivers improved performance thanks to increased current and speed accuracy, precision, and resolution. In addition, seamless integration into Ethernet-based fieldbus systems combined with the new PC configurator WEG DriveLabs through Modbus TCP enable remote control and Wi-Fi connectivity.
WEG will also introduce its EXP-ETH-xxx-ADV200 communication cards for the ADV200 AC drive family. These devices enable seamless integration with the most advanced Ethernet-based fieldbus systems, including Profinet, Ethernet-IP and Ethercat, ensuring compatibility with modern industrial networks. The new cards facilitate local peer-to-peer communication for streamlined commissioning and maintenance and remote access for service operations.
Visitors can also discover the new W23 Sync+ motor line, which delivers unparalleled efficiency across all speeds thanks to a combination of permanent magnet (PM), ferrite or neodymium magnets and synchronous reluctance (SynRM) motor technologies. This way, the motor maintains high efficiency levels even under varying speed and load conditions.
