WEG showcases motor and drive solutions at Mining and Metals Central Asia 2025

WEG, a global leader in electric motors, drives and automation technologies, will exhibit at Mining and Metals Central Asia 2025 — marking the company’s first trade show appearance in Kazakhstan. The event takes place from September 17 to 19, 2025, at the Atakent Exhibition Centre in Almaty, where visitors can find WEG exhibiting at stand 10-119.

As one of Central Asia’s leading industrial exhibitions, Mining and Metals Central Asia provides the ideal platform for WEG to introduce its solutions to a new regional audience and demonstrate its commitment to supporting Kazakhstan’s growing mining and metals sector.

At the show, WEG will present a wide range of high-performance motor and drive technologies designed to meet the demands of modern mining operations — from heavy-duty processing to reliable power transmission. Mining installations demand rugged, efficient and intelligent systems, and WEG’s equipment is purpose-built to deliver long-term reliability in environments exposed to dust, moisture, vibration and chemical exposure. With 90 per cent of electrical energy used in mines consumed by electric motors, WEG focuses on delivering energy-efficient systems that contribute to decarbonisation goals and operational savings.

Key products on display will include the W50 and W23 Sync+ motor ranges. Built for energy efficiency and durability, these machines are engineered for harsh mining environments, offering dependable performance even under the toughest conditions. The W23 Sync+ technology enhances control and efficiency, without the need for force ventilation at low speeds when used with a variable speed drive, helping operators reduce energy consumption and optimise process reliability.

“Mining Metals Central Asia marks an exciting milestone for WEG as we make our exhibition debut in Kazakhstan,” said Eugene Lazarev, COO at WEG Central Asia “With our proven technologies and engineering expertise, we are ready to support the country’s industrial growth and build strong partnerships across Central Asia. While this is WEG’s first exhibition in Kazakhstan, we bring decades of global mining experience — having supported many complex projects globally.”

WEG will also display the MVW3000 medium voltage variable speed drive on its stand, illustrating its role in providing smooth motor control and energy savings in large-scale mining and processing equipment. Based on a multi-level Cascaded H-Bridge topology, the MVW3000 delivers near-sinusoidal output waveforms that enable seamless operation with new or existing synchronous and induction motors without requiring special insulation. Compact, efficient and fully integrated, it features a phase-shifting transformer, advanced safety functions and an easy-to-use interface.

Finally, WEG will showcase its portfolio of standard motors and gearboxes, supporting a broad spectrum of industrial tasks from conveyors and crushers to pumps and fans. These solutions are designed for flexibility, long service life and reduced maintenance. Visitors will have the opportunity to speak with WEG’s team of experts to learn more about product capabilities and discuss tailored solutions for operations in Kazakhstan and across the region.
