Leading global motor and drive manufacturer WEG is sponsoring the official reception for Brazilian Independence Day hosted by the Embassy of Brazil in the Netherlands. The event will take place on Friday September 5, 2025 at the Grand Hotel Amrâth Kurhaus in The Hague, and will bring together diplomats, government officials, business leaders and cultural representatives to celebrate Brazil’s 203 years of independence.

The programme will feature the national anthems of both the Netherlands and Brazil, performed by Dutch singer Femke Smit, Brazilian soprano Carla Maffioletti and the ensemble Roda da Holanda.

H.E. Fernando Simas Magalhães, Ambassador of Brazil to the Netherlands, and His Royal Highness Prince Jaime de Bourbon de Parme, Climate Envoy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands will deliver formal addresses. The celebration will conclude with a performance by Roda da Holanda, honouring Brazil’s cultural richness through music and rhythm.

The event honours the longstanding ties between Brazil and the Netherlands, a relationship built on shared values of inclusivity, sustainability and innovation. With both nations prioritising renewable energy, water management and the green energy transition, the celebration will also act as a platform to reflect on how collaboration in these areas can shape a more sustainable global future.

WEG was founded in Brazil in 1961 and has since expanded its reach to include a branch in the Netherlands, providing one of many direct European presences to support regional customers and strengthen its role in technological and cultural exchange between Brazil and Europe. Sponsoring the Brazilian Independence Day reflects both WEG’s roots in Brazil and its links to the Netherlands.

“Brazilian Independence Day is an opportunity to celebrate national pride and culture, but also to recognise the cooperation and partnership between Brazil and the Netherlands,” said Martijn Brinks, commercial branch manager at WEG Netherlands, who will attend the event along with WEG colleagues Edson Cristofolini and Peter Klunder. “As a company founded in Brazil and with a strong presence in Europe, WEG is honoured to support this occasion. It highlights the cultural and diplomatic bridges between our countries and the importance of collaboration on the most pressing global challenges we face today.”

WEG’s sponsorship reflects its commitment to cultural diversity and international cooperation. The company has an extensive presence worldwide with operations in more than 120 countries, allowing it to support both technological innovation and cultural and diplomatic exchange on a global level.
