WEG appoints new managing director for Italy

~ Alexandre Moreno to support business growth ~

Motor, drive, and gearbox manufacturer, WEG has announced the appointment of Alexandre Moreno as its new managing director for WEG Italia. With over 20 years of experience in various roles at WEG globally, Moreno assumed the position in April 2023, following WEG Italia’s recent expansion of a new office and warehouse in the region. His role involves overseeing business development and driving repetitive business initiatives across Italy.

Moreno brings a wealth of experience to the role as managing director. His career with WEG began with an internship in electrical engineering at WEG Brazil, where he later transitioned into the sales department. This initial experience laid the groundwork for his subsequent advancements in the company.

Over the years, Moreno has overseen national divisions and worked extensively in European markets, including Germany, Switzerland and Austria. In 2010, Moreno’s expertise led him to Italy, where he served as sales manager, focusing on developing WEG’s low voltage (LV) business for the branch.

This appointment aligns with WEG Italia’s strategic investments to expand its offices and open a new warehouse in Lissone, Italy. The facility, encompassing a 6.000 sqm warehouse, aims to streamline operations and reduce time-to-market, reflecting a commitment to ensuring the best service for customers in Italy and wider Europe.

Being a primary market for low voltage motors and drives in Europe, Italy stands out with its rich history of driving sales in the region, especially in the original equipment manufacturer market (OEM) and machine builder market. The company’s expansion is motivated in part by the need to accommodate additional stock of its low voltage motors and drives.

As managing director, Moreno will be responsible for all operations at WEG Italia, with the primary objective of increasing and retaining repetitive business. This requires a strategic and adaptive approach, with a focus on customer-centric practices, innovation and continuous improvement.

“I believe my 23 years of experience at WEG can help strengthen our relationships with existing customers and look for opportunities with new ones,” said Moreno.

“WEG’s commitment to continuous development has made it an excellent platform for both learning and career growth and I’m enthusiastic about contributing to, and being part of, the ongoing success of the WEG Italia team.”
