~ WEG brings state-of-the-art motors, drives and digital solutions to Egypt ~
WEG, the global electrical manufacturer including motors and drives, will exhibit its latest products and technologies at the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES), between February 19 to 21 at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in Cairo, Egypt. WEG will present its high-efficiency motors, innovative variable speed drives (VSDs) and digital solutions to support sustainability in Hall 1, Stand 1 E50.
EGYPES remains a pivotal trade exhibition within the Middle East and North Africa oil and gas industry. The event is attended by national and international oil companies, Egyptian and North African government representatives, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors, international service providers and more.
Following the company’s debut at EGYPES last year, WEG will be returning to unveil its WG20 range of helical geared motors. The state-of-the-art industrial gearboxes incorporate cylindrical gears with helical teeth, and are designed to optimise power transmission across various industrial applications. The WG20 helical gear units come in twelve housing sizes for nominal torques from 50 to 18,000 Newton-meters (Nm) and are available in both foot and flange designs.
WEG will also present the CFW900 variable speed drive (VSD). The CFW900 is designed to be controlled through a human machine interface (HMI), including a menu with detailed parameters so operators can control a motor’s torque, speed and position with higher precision. The device is now also equipped with Bluetooth, enabling operators to control torque, speed and position remotely through mobile devices.
The CFW900’s Ethernet port allows improved data sharing with WEG’s Motion Fleet Management (MFM), a cloud-based digital platform for real-time asset monitoring and operational control. An updated, smaller and enhanced version of MFM will appear at EGYPES. While the first iteration was suitable for safe area applications, the updated MFM can measure new parameters to support the International Electrotechnical Commission System for Certification to Standards Relating to Equipment for Use in Explosive Atmospheres (IECEx) system.
“WEG is not just a motors and drives manufacturer,” said Ahmed ElShayal, regional business manager for oil and gas in the Middle East and Egypt at WEG, and general manager at WEG Egypt. “Energy saving is a top initiative for us through the use of high efficiency motors and advanced technology VSDs, which have become a key factor for reducing the CO2 footprint.
“We’re a key player in the broader digital and sustainable solutions landscape, offering solar, wind, and hydro power generation equipment and even electric vehicle charging stations. Our focus is on efficiency and sustainability to align with the evolving needs of the petroleum sector, while helping businesses to increase their productivity and optimise their processes.”
Also making its debut at EGYPES will be WEG’s new ADV200-SP solar pump drive, designed for remote areas and off-the-grid applications including driving centrifugal and submersible pumps. Developed based on WEG’s broad experience in solar and pump applications, the ADV200-SP converts electrical energy supplied by a photovoltaic (PV) panel into mechanical energy, which is then converted into hydraulic energy by the pump.
“The ADV200-SP works solely on solar power, providing high energy savings and efficiency, meeting the growing demand for renewable energy solutions,” said ElShayal. “From high-efficiency motors to cutting-edge variable speed drives and our digital devices like MFM, each product reflects WEG’s dedication to energy-saving initiatives and reducing CO2 emissions in both direct and indirect ways.”
WEG has long been present in the Egyptian market with valued high profile partnerships in the region. The company became more active in Egypt in 2018, since enjoying remarkable growth and continuing an ambitious development plan. That includes establishing a commercial branch in Egypt, which will be operational at the beginning of 2024.
